    Checklist if You Believe Your Credit Report is Inaccurate
 
Write to the Credit Reporting Agency that controls the inaccurate credit report to file a dispute. 
  1. Write to the Creditor that furnished the information in dispute regarding the inaccuracy. 
    These steps would take care of most problems. However, if the Credit Reporting Agency's investigation indicates that the information is accurate. 

  2. Write the Credit Reporting Agency and request that a statement of the dispute be included with your file and sent with future credit reports. 

  3. Optional: For a fee, you can request that the Credit Reporting Agency send a copy of the dispute statement to all entities that have requested your credit report recently. 

  4. Write the Creditor indicating that you are still in dispute of the information provided. 

  5. Consult the Federal Trade Commission to file a complaint and find out more about your options
